St. Patrick, Sonora Father Henry Alric paid one dollar for the site of the first "permanent" Catholic Church in Sonora in 1852. With his own funds Father Alric built a rectory, including a small hospital. The present St. Patrick's Church on Piety Hill overlooks the city square. It has been burned and restored; wired for electricity; and decorated with stain glass.
All Saints, Twain Harte The Catholic community of northeastern Tuolumne County is known today as the Parish of All Saints' Twaine Harte and St. Joseph's Tuolumne City; the heritage of a people persistent and determined to reach its destiny as a faith community. Bishop Donohoe acceded to the requests of the people to form a parish in 1962.
